I’m sure I’m not alone in having taken a SERIOUS look at my health habits lately. With BC COVID numbers rising and our second round of lockdown in full swing, it’s really put into perspective just how important it is to take care of yourself. Not to mention the added stress of having a COVID Christmas! Ah! I’ve always been a big believer in taking an inside out approach to health and self-care, which is why I love the IDEA of vitamins and supplements. However… remembering what to take and when to take them is a whole different story. I always start with the best of intentions and then slowly fall off the map. It can be super confusing to know when to take your vitamins, what to take them with, and which ones you can and can’t take together. Between taking care of a toddler with another little one on the way and trying to prep for the holidays, I just don’t have the mental capacity for that most days!
Enter VTMN Packs, who basically swooped in and solved EVERY problem I’ve ever had with taking vitamins. VTMN Packs personalizes exactly which vitamins you need and then pre-portions them for you into the cutest pouches, eliminating all the guesswork and stress. I’ve actually started to LIKE taking my vitamins because I love the packing and format so much!!! I started out by taking their health assessment, which customizes your daily supplements based on everything from diet to lifestyle and health goals. From there, they delivered me a personalized vitamin plan vetted by pharmacists, nutritionists, naturopaths and dieticians. I knew I needed to be taking prenatal and probiotic supplements, which I’m usually pretty good about. But after taking the assessment, I learned I should be taking iron, magnesium, and vitamin D, which all got built into my custom packs. I also love that they use super high-quality vitamins with just the right dose and the highest absorbency.
Ever since I’ve started using the VTMN Packs subscription service, I’ve been so great about taking my vitamins!! Pretty proud of myself, to be honest. I really wanted to commit this time, so I’m going to share my top 5 tips for making your daily vitamin intake a lasting habit!
One of the easiest ways to make your vitamin intake a habit is to put them somewhere you can’t ignore! That might be next to your daily moisturizer, in your bedside table, or in the kitchen cupboard where you keep your coffee beans. Just make sure it’s somewhere cool and dry so your vitamins don’t lose their potency. And unless it specifically says to, never put them in the fridge or freezer!
They say it takes 21 days to form a new habit, so to get myself in the habit of integrating vitamins EVERY day, I set a daily alarm. Your VTMN Packs will say if they should be taken morning or night, but I like to give myself a little extra nudge. After a few weeks of anticipating the alarm, it becomes automatic, and I know at which point in my daily routine I should be taking them.
The packs are super compact and easy to travel with, so I like to keep one in my purse if I’m out for the day. That way, if I need to rush out the door early in the morning with a full day ahead, it doesn’t mean I’m skipping out on my vitamins.
The tipping point for me with vitamins is usually when my bottle runs out. Going to the supplement store and replacing them always seems to fall lower and lower on my priority list, and then I just stop taking them altogether. I LOVE that VTMN Packs is a subscription service because I don’t even have to think about it! They just show up on my doorstep as soon as I’m out.
This one’s optional, but I love including just a one or two liner in my journal every day about how I feel health-wise. It gives me a chance to check in with my body and see how I’m feeling, especially now that I’m pregnant again. Noticing the subtle changes and shifts in my everyday health really shows me the value of taking supplements and how much of a difference it makes over time.
I hope that everybody is staying super healthy and taking care of themselves right now! It’s so important as we head into the holidays. And although we might not have the crazy social calendars we usually would around this time of year, there’s even more to stress about than usual. So make sure to take care of yourselves and look on the bright side! 2021 is just around the corner!!! Have you guys had a hard time sticking to your daily vitamin intake in the past? If you have any other tips for sticking to healthy habits, drop them in the comments below!!
