Our sweet baby Wilce turned ONE this year, and we celebrated with the most perfect western-themed party: Wilce’s Wild West Was One. From the cowboy boots and hats to the BBQ truck parked in our driveway, every detail captured the spirit of the Wild West in a way that was fun, family-friendly, and totally unforgettable.
The colour palette of pastel beige, brown, light blue, and soft green set the tone – soft and sweet for a little boy’s first birthday, yet chic and elevated for the grown-ups too. Everyone got into the spirit, and I can’t tell you how much I loved seeing our friends and family fully embrace the western look.

Scarlett from Cacao & Co. was a dream to work with. She prepared the most delicious treats in true western fashion: cheesecake cups, chocolate-dipped strawberries, s’mores, cake pops, rice crispy “haystacks,” and more. These disappeared so quickly, I almost didn’t get one myself!
Claudia and her team at Hansel & Gretel created the cake of my dreams – a show-stopping western cake complete with cowboy hats, boots, ropes, and bandana details, plus a matching smash cake just for Wilce. Their cookies were works of art, so beautiful I almost couldn’t eat them (and yes, some are still tucked away in the freezer because they’re too pretty to part with).

Drinks & RefreshmentsSussanah’s from Fig & Honey Bar Company was an absolute highlight. The mobile bar styled with boho florals, cactus, and rustic western touches, was the perfect “watering hole” for our guests. She made it easy for Gary and me to actually enjoy the party while she served up signature cocktails like:
What I loved most was how it instantly elevated the atmosphere. It wasn’t just a bar setup – it became a full experience and gathering point for guests, and it truly allowed us as hosts to be present in the moment.
If you’re planning an at-home celebration and want that “wow factor” without the stress, this is exactly the kind of service that transforms a party into an experience.

We also poured wine from two of my favourites: Haywire Wine and Evolve Wine. Guests sipped everything from sparkling to Merlot and it elevated our drink menu in the best way.

What’s a western party without BBQ?
Memphis Mike’s BBQ Truck rolled right into our driveway, serving smoky brisket, chicken, sliders, and classic sides like coleslaw, baked beans and cornbread. Guests loved the freedom to grab food when they wanted and it made the whole event feel authentic and elevated.

For grazing, Charcuterie Chamber styled the most adorable charcuterie cups topped with mini cowboy hats. Packed with cheeses, salami, falafel, olives and fresh fruit, they were as pretty as they were tasty.

To balance the rustic look, Designer Blooms created airy, unstructured floral arrangements in muted, boho tones. They were the perfect finishing touch for tying our theme together.
The kids had the best time bouncing in the luxe white bouncy castle, splashing in the ball pit, and playing in the soft play zone from Ab Everything Events. It was a lifesaver for keeping the little ones entertained while the adults enjoyed the party.
Sasha from AKT Events brought my backdrop vision and Trading Post wall to life. With western décor, balloons and thoughtful details, she helped transform our space into a true Wild West setting.

Live music always takes an event to the next level and Ryan McAllister was incredible as always. His mix of original tunes and western-inspired covers set the perfect atmosphere for dancing, mingling and making memories.

Of course, our outfits were just as fun as the décor.

From the Trading Post favours (stuffed horses and cowboy-themed goodies for each child) to the ONE highchair smash cake moment, every little detail tied into the Wild West theme. I also ordered editable signage, invitations and décor printables from Etsy that brought everything together beautifully.

Surrounded by our family and friends, celebrating our baby boy with music, food, laughter and cowboy charm, Wilce’s Wild West was One turned out even better than I had dreamed. It was the perfect way to mark his first year, and a reminder that with the right theme, thoughtful details and amazing local vendors, you can create unforgettable magic at any age.
