Thanksgiving – Outdoor Edition

Every October, we’re reminded of all the wonderful things we surround ourselves with. Thanksgiving is a time to share thanks and one of the things I’m most thankful for is our beautiful BC backyard. That’s why hosting a friendsgiving outside at Taves Farms felt like the perfect fit. Unfortunately, I’m not particularly thankful for my turkey cooking skills… don’t worry –  JD Farms and Truffles fine foods was there to save the day. We laughed until our belly’s hurt, we ate…until our belly’s hurt and we drank, well, until our belly’s hurt. Let me tell you a little bit about how we brought our elegant indoor festivities, outside.

First things first, you need to find yourself a beautiful outdoor space. I live in Yaletown, so unfortunately for me, this outdoor space isn’t my own back yard. If you’re looking for a place to host a dinner and you don’t have a yard, Taves Family Farms is the place to be. We found an opening between the apple trees and set up an amazing wood table from Woodpecker Tables. This table was perfect for our naturegiving, but I actually loved it so much I want one for inside my new house.

Once we had the table set up (we may have needed assistance from a tractor to get it into the farm grounds – it was a wee bit heavy), we started decorating. All of our tables settings were from The Cross Decor and Design – they have the most beautiful kitchenware.  We used these braided napkin rings, they are to die for.  I took those babies home for future dinner parties.

I don’t know about you, but I think a meat and cheese board is the perfect (and only) way to start off EVERY meal. We had the most delicious cheese from Mt.Lehman – how cute is their goat packaging?  The charcuterie was well deserved after all of the time we spent setting up.

Once we polished off the charcuterie, it was time to bring in the big guns – aka the food. Truffles fine foods creations are as beautiful as they are delicious. Come Christmas, when you and your siblings are fighting over who has to make the turkey, keep in mind that Truffles will deliver a full Thanksgiving (or Christmas) dinner, homestyle with all the fixings. They don’t only do holiday’s, Truffles is great for small dinner parties and large catered events as well!

Once the table was set, it was almost too beautiful to eat. After a few glasses of Singletree, our senses got the best of us and we could not resist. Somewhere along the way, between the laughs, the food was devoured and sun started to set. It was a perfect evening, with delicious food and even better company.

OH and let’s not forget about the incredible desert, Truffles knows a thing or two about pumkin pie, and I had a slice…or two of that perfect pie. The natural whipped cream looked so good I wanted to eat it with a spoon, unfortunately I’m dairy free, but for those of you who aren’t – it looked (and smelled) amazing. If you’ve got the turkey cooking nailed, I suggest you impress your guests with a Truffles Fine Foods pumpkin pie.

After copious amounts of food, wine and pie, we thought it would be fit to finish the evening off with some Taves Farms Apple Cider, it is so fresh and sweet it tastes like the apples were just picked. It’s dangerous having it in a jug, it’s seriously hard to control yourself!

Taves Family Farms, Summer Dhillon, Truffles Fine Foods, Woodpecker Tables, Singletree Winery and The Cross Decor and Design – I’M THANKFUL FOR YOU!! How do you like to spend the holiday’s with friends?
