Hi bookworms, welcome back to my monthly book club with Indigo! Put on a pair of sweatpants, turn OFF your iPhone, and settle into your comfiest chair because this book will have you HOOKED for (at least) the next four hours; Then She Was Gone, a novel by Lisa Jewell, is the ultimate thriller.

I’m personally a huge fan of Indigo thrillers. They’re total page turners and reading them is an exciting way to pass the time when you’re travelling on planes as often as myself. Something that always draws me into a book is its dynamic – and relatable – characters. In Then She Was Gone, Lisa Jewell excelled at creating real characters that every reader can truly resonate with.

Then She Was Gone follows the story of a mother, Laurel, who’s beloved daughter Ellie is kidnapped. Ellie was a golden girl who was loved by all. In the aftermath of Ellie’s tragic disappearance, Laurel struggles to hold herself together. After ten years of despair, Laurel finally meets a man that adds lightness back into her life. However, there’s one oh so unfortunate problem. When she meets his daughter, she discovers that she is the spitting image of Ellie…. Laurel begins to question what truly happened to her daughter on that fateful afternoon 10 years ago.

AHHH! I had shivers while writing my thoughts about this novel. Then She Was Gone is a classic thriller with twists and turns that you will not believe! Don’t worry, I promise not to spoil anything in this review.  I’m planning on adding this Indigo novel to my Mom’s Mother’s Day present. This book should be an essential staple in your beach bag this summer.

Luckily for my fellow thrill-seeking readers, Indigo is giving away a $50 gift card to one very lucky winner. To enter this contest, leave me a comment on this post (or email me) the name of your current favourite thriller novel. I’ve added Then She Was Gone to my list! I can’t wait to read your selections!
