Karma launched its online store this past July, and four months later has opened a retail store at Oakridge Mall
Karma Athletics has quickly become one of my favourite active wear brands because of its ultra sleek and styled design, luxe performance fabrics, incredible fit and affordable price point.
Founded in Vancouver, B.C., Karma continues to design and manufacture all of its products locally. This is not like anything else we have seen here—a real high fashion take on active wear. The vibe in its Yaletown headquarters stays true to its name. The team is so amazing, enthusiastic about its products and dedicated to supporting one another. Also, the fact that it’s investing in our community and maintaining unbelievably high-standards for its line of products, operations and customer service are reasons why I have great admiration for what the Karma team is doing and represents.
Karma takes its name seriously. It is dedicated to honouring its philosophy: what you put out into this world you can expect to get back in return. I respect the brand for taking such a powerful word into active fashion and creating a vision that empowers women to be strong, confident, passionate and fearless. Who wouldn’t be excited for what this brand has in store?
Its latest release — the Dark Monarch Collection — is incredible and the story behind it, inspiring.
Here are some of my favourite pieces from this collection.
Taylor Crop
This cropped legging with wrapped waistband and pleating on the waist and calves is a great length for every height, especially for a smaller frame. The waistband is forgiving, and is made with a comfortable fabric that compresses and tucks, but is also breathable and light enough to hug your body in all the right spots. There is even a hidden waistband pocket to hide your keys or smart phone.
Yama Tight
The Yama tights are one of the most popular Karma items season after season. They are full-length and tight-fitting with a tall ribbed waistband. I love wearing these tights with a sports bra and the Kay pullover.
Suhita Longsleeve
One of my favourite workout pieces are long sleeves over a sports bra, because I have the option to take it off if I get too warm. However, with the winter season in full swing, the long sleeves offer just the right amount of fabric for working out comfortably. I am obsessed with the Suhita Longsleeve because it enhances those features on your body that you really want to highlight — you know what I’m talking about. Its subtle side and back cut-outs are the perfect mix of classic and modern.
