After a few months of celebrating the ‘summer bump,’ reality has kicked in… pregnant mamas, past mamas, future mamas – are you with me? Toss a cute dress on a summer bump and you’re set… but cue cold weather, add raincouver and you have a recipe for pregnant disaster. My jeans won’t zip up, my jacket buttons are going to pop and my gloves barely slip on to my puffy hands. So after a difficult morning (resulting in half my closet laying on the ground) I decided to kick into gear. This mama is taking on fall – and winning.
Fret no more ladies, I’ve done some digging and I have all the tips to make this fall a breeze. When shopping for these looks, I knew my baby was just going to keep getting bigger – so I picked out dresses that would be forgiving, but still flattering as I grow. Thankfully my Levi denim jacket still fits – pair a few dresses like this RW&Co piece below with an old jacket and your favourite boots and you’ve transitioned to fall. I love this long sleeve chiffon piece because it adds some warmth and the flowy shape is complementary to the bump.
I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t find ANY jeans comfortable with this baby in my belly… no, not even pregnancy jeans. If you ladies know of a COMFORTABLE pregnancy denim line, I’m all ears. I have been living in tunics and maternity leggings – I like outfits that make me feel feminine, but that allow me (and baby) to breathe. Thyme maternity has the best leggings – as soon as you find out you’re expecting, get yourself a pair of those, you can thank me later. I’m basically living in them!!!
I’ve been frequenting these cozy Frye boots. If you’ve gained a little bit of extra baby weight in your legs, they also make these in wide-calf! If you’re sticking to sneakers, toss on a warm pair of socks to keep you nice and toasty. I paired these white converse with this pink Forever 21 dress. I found this piece in the plus size section. If you’re having a tough time finding fashionable maternity pieces, take a peek in the extended sizes, they should give you lots of room for your bump (and your boobs).
Last but not least, my favourite maternity dress is this flirty piece from Aritzia – AND it’s on sale right now. The waist definition is both comfortable and flattering on your growing belly and the high neck helps keep your chest warm as we move into the colder months.
Dear fall, you thought you got me, but you were wrong. Can’t wait to watch the leaves change as I countdown the days until my baby boy can watch with me.
