How to make a space that appeals to the whole team

Gary and I recently purchased a new house, with one important element; an entertainment space. We have ping pong tables, beer fridges and more importantly a screening room that is PERFECT for the Super Bowl.

We wanted to design the space in a way that feels comfortable, modern, and has it’s own masculine flare. Most of the time the entertainment room is filled with Gary, a bunch of dudes and maybe one or two (or 50) cans of beers.

We started by laying down this beautiful Salari Rug. A local company brought them in straight from Morocco, and they sell them at CF Interiors. Here’s the company who weaves the rugs.

Even though we have a big comfy couch, we usually have so many people piled in the entertainment room that we need some additional seating. One of my favourite additions is this beautiful pouf from CF Interiors. We put together a cluster of three poufs to fill out the space and to provide extra seating for kids, or couch-overflow.

Since the entertainment room is downstairs, it can be a little dark. We added this floor lamp to provide a bit of additional lighting and to spice up the space. I love the three prong look and the gold detailing to modernize the space.

Now to the important stuff. We chose a reclaimed beached elm theme for our media unit and our coffee table, with gold detailing to match the statement lamp. Gary convinced me to get a pretty (insanely) huge TV – it’s the entertainment room after-all, so we got this big media stand to showcase it. The wood grain is beautiful, and I love the stain they used. The coffee table uses the same wood and pulls the room together beautifully. Plus, both pieces have tons of storage so we can keep all of our games (and 100 remotes) organized. We added these side tables which double as stools. I love the rustic-modern look.

Last, but not least, we added the art. We chose a gold stained frame to match the grain and gold theme. CF Interiors has thousands of prints to choose from. It took us forever to pick our pieces because we had so many favourites.

I’m so happy to have put together a space which breathes the modern aesthetic I love and also provides the perfect entertainment space for the whole gang. CF interiors brought the space from a dark basement room to my dream movie lounge and Gary’s dream super-bowl-watching-den. Now, back to the game.
