GIFTING WITH A SIDE OF PURPOSE!
What feels better than giving a gift that keeps giving. All of the companies I’m about to tell you about give back to people in need, while also giving you something beautiful to gift your loved one. In a crazy world filled with ‘stuff’ it feels good to make thoughtful purchases for the thoughtful people in your life.
01 Obakki Foundation
The Obakki Foundation is near and dear to my heart as a charity that I’ve supported and worked with in the past. They give 100% of all proceeds from their foundation product back to their programs providing water, agricultural support and other initiatives in Africa. Their brand, Obakki covers their administrative costs. They have lots of great giftable items like t-shirts and blankets, but my favourite are the scarves which range from just $29-$49. PS. that crazy cute kid in the pink shirt is from Obakki Foundation as well.
02 The Giving Keys
The Giving Keys make such an easy gift – AND it’s filled by good. When you purchase a Giving Keys necklace, the proceeds go towards helping support jobs for people transitioning out of homelessness. For every 5 units sold, one hour of work is created for their team. Plus, they sell in both silver and gold, feuf. The classic key necklaces are my favourite.
03 Me To We
These beautiful products give back to the people who make them. Their promise is that every gift empowers the person who crafted it. I love this chocolate for stocking stuffers. It supports educational initiatives, and tastes delicious. These bracelets are also an easy gift for any girl in your life, and provide clean water to people in need.
04 One Girl Can
Since 2008, AG hair has donated a percentage of their proceeds back to One Girl Can which supports educational initiatives in Africa. In 2017 your purchases of AG hair products meant that $130,000 went towards providing education to girls who want to build their own futures. I love their all natural line, it makes a great gift and feels good knowing you’re supporting kids in need.
05 Ten Thousand Villages
Ten Thousand Villages is a collection of items from the developing world, using only local materials. Each purchase supports the lives of the makers by encouraging and funding their craft and providing a fair and stable income. Not only does Ten Thousand Villages want to bring products from people in developping nations, they all want to bring their stories to share with you. They have an entire “Christmas” section with great gift ideas and decorations.
Okay guys, these brands give a whole new meaning for the word “gift”. Each one of these great companies have lots of options that do more than just make your loved one feel good — they change the lives of people who need your support. I challenge you to try and purchase at least one charitable gift this year.
What are your favourite brands that give back?
