If you haven’t started decorating your house for fall, it’s about time! Take your beachy themed items and hide them away with the rest of your summer décor allowing room for everything orange, green and red. I’m one of those gals who’s decor changes with the seasons – I LOVE decorating my place, so the more changes, the merrier. If I were to pick a favourite season for decorating, it would be fall. I love the autumn colours and the amazing scents fall has to offer. Can you say pumpkin spice.. I know I know I’m slightly obsessed. I wanted to share some of the ways I make my space feel like fall, just in time for Thanksgiving.
For around the house, quilts are a huge trend this fall. Quilts for bedding as well as quilted throws, you can’t go wrong! Try to find some in warm neutral colours making it easy to move from room to room flawlessly. I’m all about pillows and throws, I might actually be working on my own capsule collection which I’m SO excited to share with you guys… shh it’s still a secret for now.
Another way to add texture this fall, would be adding a velvet chair or couch. As we have seen in fashion, velvet is coming in HOT. Pro tip: fashion and home décor are constantly copying each other, meaning if there is a huge trend in the home it’s very common to see it on the street as well. One of my favourites, which I’m going to be snagging for my new house; is this red velvet chair from Mobilia.
We know people aren’t ready to give up the warm weather and outdoors just yet. So why not bring the outdoors inside with some rustic piles of chopped wood and a whole lot of green. We will be seeing eucalyptus plants all fall and throughout the Christmas season. ALSO there is NOTHING better than a bundle of wood in a crate to give your house that cozy fall vibe you have been striving for.
Now that you have some ideas for around the house, you need to conquer the Thanksgiving table. The first thing you need to be doing this season is personalizing place settings. This will add that extra touch making your guest’s feel the LOVE as they find their seats. You can do this by adding cute name tags or even go the extra mile and add a personalized candle.
As well, center pieces are EVERYTHING. It’s important to find a color palette and stick with it. Whether you’re working with bright whites and neutrals, or stormy autumn burgundy’s – your colour scheme needs to stay consistent. Big table trends for 2017 will be deep dark colours like matte blacks and dark navy. If that’s not you, try some metallic accents or even some pastel tones.
Thanksgiving is a time to appreciate all the things you’ve worked for, the wonderful people in your life, and the things that make you, you. If you’re debating whether or not you want to go home and see family, or working a couple extra hours, I really recommend you see your loved ones. In light of everything that is going on in the world right now, I am extremely thankful for the beautiful city that I live in, my amazing family (including my sisters new kittens; Martha and Stewart), my wonderful boyfriend Gary (who I just bought a house with, EEE), my growing team behind our brand (couldn’t do it without you Sola) and my supportive, encouraging GIRL BOSS friends. Have an amazing long weekend everyone and PLEASE remember to love one another.
