Hi everyone and welcome back to this month’s book club with Indigo! I read our book of the month, From the Corner of the Oval, while I was in ………Italy! Indulging in food and drinks – it’s all molto delizioso! Italy is GORGEOUS, there is nothing better than opening up a novel and relaxing on one of their beautiful patios 😉 I have already started reading next month’s novel, you’re in for a treat!
This month’s Indigo novel is From the Corner of the Oval. This memoir – written by Beck Dorey-Stein follows her journey from barely making ends meet to being an integral part of the Obama White House. As a stenographer, she was tasked with recording important speeches and other Whitehouse protocol. As Beck soon learns, her job entails far more more than she ever expected……. OOOH how scandalous!
From the Corner of the Oval is the tale of a woman who is striving to find her voice in a sea of men and it is an incredibly empowering read. As a journalist myself, I found myself resonating with many of Beck’s struggles and triumphs. I can’t recommend this Indigo novel enough. Throughout From the Corner of the Oval, Beck dives deeper into the inner-workings of the White House and soon becomes romantically involved with a colleague…..so juicy! Beck is soon faced with heartbreak, turmoil, and utter intrigue.
To read more about Beck, our friends over at Indigo are giving away a $50 gift card to one of you lucky readers! To enter the contest, leave me a comment on my Instagram post telling me who your strong female role model is. For those of you that have read (or are reading) this novel, I can’t wait to hear your opinions.
Happy reading everbody! This is the best beach read, just don’t forget your sunscreen. 😉
