Prostate Cancer BC Announcement

I am really thrilled to be sharing this news!! I have recently teamed up with the Prostate Cancer Foundation to be their Spokesperson for the Raymond James Father’s Day Walk/Run. If you aren’t aware of what the Prostate Cancer Foundation BC is, it’s a local non-profit organization with a mission to provide leadership and resources for prostate cancer, support, education and research in BC.

Prostate Cancer Foundation BC (previously named British Columbia Foundation for Prostate Disease) was formed in 1997 with early initiatives that affiliated themselves with the Canadian Prostate Cancer Network (CPCN), holding large fundraising events. The first fundraising event was the Do it for Dad Walk/Run, which took place June 1999. That first event netted $25,000 for the Foundation and was the basis for the now very successful Father’s Day Walk/Run for Prostate Cancer.… AMAZING RIGHT!?!?

I feel so honoured to help such an amazing and local charity with a cause that is so close to my heart, having had several uncles myself who had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Taking preventative measures to avoid developing this type of cancer is extremely important.

  1. Be informed! See your doctor by the time you’re 40 or earlier if you have a family history.
  2. Detox effectively and regularly to get rid of toxins that store in the prostate and contribute to cancer.
  3. Clean up your health – eat well… fruits and veggies, eat something green everyday, avoid smoking, limit alcohol and get lots of exercise.
  4. Be aware! 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. It’s the third leading cause of cancer deaths in men today.
  5. It’s often a slow growing cancer and surgery is not always recommended.

I hope you will join me in supporting this worthwhile organization so efforts can continue with research for prostate cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment to ensure a better quality of life for survivors and to find a cure for Prostate Cancer by registering for the Raymond James Father’s Day Walk/Run or donating here. Watch my video for more details.

Whether you’re celebrating your husband, boyfriend, brother, father or grandfather this is a fantastic way to honour the men in your life. I’ll be leading the stretch to get you limbered up for either the 2k walk, 5k stroll or 10k timed run, whichever you decide. The event is going to be blast and it’s not just for serious runners. It’s a family event with a FREE BBQ lunch, costume contest, Dad zone with FREE massages and kids under 12 are free, with a bouncy castle to boot.

Adult Registration is $35 and if you fundraise $150 you get in for free. All activities at the event are free and everyone gets a cool t-shirt. Register HERE
