This morning I chatted with Barbara Beam on our weekly lifestyle segment on JRFM all about Earth Day and how you can take part and celebrate our planet.
If you missed our coverage here are my recommendations that we chatted about!
Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which earth day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. If you missed our coverage here are my recommendations that we chatted about for you to take part in and at the end of THIS blog LOTS of goodies for YOU TO WIN!
If you missed our On Air chat CLICK THIS LINK below:
Lets start with Naked Yoga – A place where you and the entire class share a yoga practice completely and utterly, naked. It’s a non-judgmental environment to practice your downward facing dog. No shoes, no shirt, no problem.
Despite your fear of people knowing you have cellulite, several studies find that being naked is actually good for you. Instead of reading countless hours of medical journals you can simply just Google it. It’s beneficial for our skin, our mood, and our self-confidence. It contributes to relaxation, enhances circulation and helps us get comfortable with our own bodies.
You can attend Naked DudeYoga classes in Vancouver – Near Haro and Denman. Unfortunately, they do not offer mixed-gender classes. But you’re not out of luck just yet! The best part about yoga and naked yoga is you can also do it at home. Here is a quick list of some free online yoga classes that you can do at home alone or with a friend but still get the same benefits. Have fun stripping and stretching!
2. Granville’s Mingle in the Dark Event this Thursday from 7-10pm in the taproom.
Join them in appreciation of Granville’s sustainability partnership with Bullfrog Power. Great tasting craft beer, delicious food, and a candlelit taproom sounds like an exciting way to spend a Thursday night.
At the end of the blog post you’ll find out how you can have the chance to win one of 2 growlers (Any beer that is currently on tap). A growler is a great sustainable option for Earth Day and the lucky winners can pickup their prize at the Mingle in the Dark event.

One of my favourite vegan cosmetics lines Emani Vegan Cosmetics is a perfect way to show your skin some love. Even better, Emani is from Vancouver and you can find them in London Drugs! Emani an eco-conscious line of beauty products that are vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free, paraben-free and free of petrochemicals and other irritants. The packaging is made of recycled and biodegradable paper.
The founder of Emani Vegan Cosmetics, Michelle Doan is from Vancouver who created a cosmetics line that wouldn’t irritate her cystic acne and would actually be good for her skin! Check out our prize pack below to have a chance to try out these ridiculously cool cosmetics!
6. Light an Aveda Light The Way candle; which they sell in honour of Earth Month (April!) with all sales proceeds going directly to WaterAid.
Select Aveda Canada salons will also be hosting “Appointments for Clean Water” on April 25th, and encouraging guests to book an appointment on this day where all services are donated to WaterAid Canada. The funds raised will directly provide communities in Madagascar with clean water for life.
