The Super Bowl is coming up this Sunday and even though we will be doing something really low-key this year I will definitely be making a few of these appies and snacks for the big game. I can’t wait to watch Tampa Bay take on the Chiefs but come on I’m really in it for the halftime show… let’s be real haha. We’ve put together some of my favourite snacks from some of our recent Super Bowl parties.
White Table Catering’s Signature Hot Wings
First and most importantly, you need hot wings! Thankfully our friends at White Table Catering have sent over their top-secret recipe, served with Roquefort yogurt dip.
Tip: Try this same sauce on Roasted Cauliflower Bits to give vegetarian lovers the flavour of chicken wings – without the meat!
Wings and Coating:
2 pounds free range chicken wings (tips removed)
½ cup corn starch
½ tablespoon salt
½ tablespoon paprika
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Hot Sauce:
1½ cups Franks hot sauce
1 tablespoon white vinegar
¼ cup butter
salt and pepper
Roquefort Yoghurt Dip:
1 cup plain yogurt
¼ cup mayonnaise
2 cloves minced garlic
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ cup chopped Roquefort Cheese
salt and pepper
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a bowl mix dry ingredients. Add wings and toss to coat. Spread wings onto a baking sheet lined with non-stick parchment paper. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until crispy, flipping over halfway through. In a bowl heat Franks and vinegar. Turn off heat and whisk in butter slowly. Add to wings and toss to coat. Serve with Roquefort yogurt dip.
Kansas City Pulled Pork Sliders
Beer braised pork with pickled cabbage and carrots with chipotle aioli
Tip: Add a splash of your favourite local beer to your braising skillet.
**Serve with mini shots of beer for a fun addition.
Mini Baked Potato Bites
Mini new potatoes roasted with sea salt and olive oil, cut open and garnished with a dollop of sour cream, cheddar, chives and fresh bacon.
Just like your dad always ordered…only half the calories 😉 They are to DIE for and I must have ate half the batch!! You can bet I’ll be making these little bites of heaven on Sunday.
“Gridiron” Nachos
Kettle chips topped with pickled jalapeños, pickled red onion, shredded parmesan, cheese curds, garlic, cilantro lime aioli and fresh cilantro to garnish.
Tip: Make things easy! Bake and serve in a cast iron skillet. Not only does it make your clean up easy, it gives a homey, rustic feel to your presentation.
Go for the Touchdown Mini Vegan Mac and Cheese Cups
We have some maple bacon chips (for those who may want to add a little protein to their vegan cup), chives, home made bread crumbs and truffle oil infused mushrooms.
Red and White Caprese Avocado Toast Bites with toasted ciabatta, tuscan olive oil, lemon, sea salt.
You gotta have your red and white treats while cheering the Kansas City Chiefs on, and what better combo than bocconcini cheese and fresh cherry tomatoes. Go Chiefs!
Canadian Poutine Buckets with russets, cheddar curds and demiglace.
Torched Marshmallows with bruleed homemade -marshmallows.
Make dessert different and turn this into another fun, interactive activity for your guests and book the smores station White Table Catering offers! They toast the marshmallows right in front of you, just like these ones here. It also makes a great late-night snack!
Sweet and Salty Popcorn Cups
Tip: add fresh sea salt, caramel, chopped walnuts and melted chocolate to fresh popped popcorn to create an easy dessert guests can take straight to your seats to enjoy during the game.
Farmer’s Garden Vegetable board
A selection of raw seasonal vegetables served with fresh hummus and yogurt dill spread.
Tip: instead of lining those baby carrots all up in a row, find something interesting at your local, organic produce market. Surprise your guests – use whole vegetables and leave the stems on!
So, is everyone ready to host? I mean stay home.. remember when we could have friends over like this?? I also have tips on how to deck out your space Super Bowl style, so you can get a bit festive.. because why not, you can check out here. I made sure to include games and activities to keep you and your bubble having fun too! If all else fails, and you just can’t swing enough prep time in the kitchen, reach out to White Table Catering and they’ll make sure that you get an A+ on your menu, bringing your guests back time and time again for the Gridiron Nachos.
